Cormac Russell


Cormac Russell Bacc Phil, Dip Child Psyche, BA, MMCT, NLP Prac, is Managing Director of the Nurture Development an Irish training and development agency working in the Third sector; and the Public sector as well as offering Corporate Social Responsibility training solutions to the Private sector. Cormac holds two primary degrees, in Philosophy and Psychology. He has postgraduate qualifications in child psychology and communications therapy. He is a trained Civil and Commercial Mediator with the ADR Group, an NLP Practioner, a Communications Therapist, facilitator, and qualified Psychotherapist. Cormac is a faculty member of the National College of Ireland, (Centre for Educational Opportunity Department) since 2001 with key responsibility for the NCI Certificate in Active Citizenship for Local Development; he is also senior lecturer on the NCI Certificate in Professional Community/Voluntary Management and Leadership, and FETAC Community Enterprise Programme.

Cormac has extensive experience working on the ground and in a training capacity with a wide variety of community and voluntary groups as well as Local Area Based Partnership Companies, County Childcare Committees and County and City Development Boards, Local Authorities, Youth services and the Health Service Executive.
He has undertaken a variety of high profile projects including the development of a Regeneration Policy and the Community Development Strategy for Dublin City; and has also facilitated the development of an innovative strategy for Dublin City to support bridge building between members of the Irish Traveller community and City Institutions. He has also facilitated the development of a cohesion strategy between statutory agencies and local neighbourhoods in two Local Authority areas.

Additionally Cormac provides community development and ABCD training to Dublin City Council, Louth County Council, Dublin Docklands Development Authority, Kerry County Council, Cork County Council, and Limerick County Council.

Cormac is the independent Chair of Ballymun Neighbourhood Council, and a Director of Ballymun Regeneration Limited the largest regeneration project in Europe. He has also acted as CEO of Ballymun Neighbourhood Council and the Cherry Orchard Regeneration Board.
