Careers

Students who choose to pursue an MSEd degree from the School of Education and Social Policy (SESP) at Northwestern University do so because of the qualities that set our School apart from other schools of education.
Graduates of SESP's Advanced Teaching program apply their expanded understandings of learning and development in their careers as educators.
Students who choose to study at the School of Education and Social Policy (SESP) at Northwestern University do so because of the qualities that set our School apart from other schools of education.

SESP inquires into how learning and development take place throughout the life span and in many different settings—not only in classrooms, but also in the home, in communities and in the workplace.

Students benefit from SESP's strong sense of community and diverse faculty of well-respected scholars, who collaborate with students in research and engage them in spirited dialogue concerning complex and enduring questions relating to education.

Since our program in Advanced Teaching is designed to offer certified, experienced educators opportunities to deepen and extend their knowledge, the three certificates we offer—Issues of Teaching and Learning, Service Learning and the Middle School Science Endorsement—provide ongoing professional development for career advancement.
