Learning Society
Difference is at the heart of the Learning Society, the premier annual giving society of the School of Education and Social Policy. Joining the society means understanding that learning is a lifelong process that occurs in many different contexts including classrooms, workplaces, families and neighborhoods. It means becoming part of a scholarly community that embraces new ideas in education and taking an active interest in furthering the School's commitment to expand opportunities for teaching and learning. It means making a difference with annual personal gifts for the general support of the School at one of the levels described below.

  • Insight Circle: $1,000 - $2,499
  • Reformer: $2,500 - $4,999
  • Innovator: $5,000 - $9,999
  • Visionary: $10,000 or more

Giving Impact

Unrestricted gifts are important for SESP to capitalize on areas of particular need or opportunity. These include the following areas:

alumni giving
  • Faculty Support: With a concentrated group of distinguished faculty, the reputation of the School of Education and Social Policy is among the very best. Funds for faculty development support grants to underwrite research, conference sponsorships and opportunities for designing new curricula, among others.
  • Student Support: SESP relies on the quality of its students to thrive and grow. Scholarship and fellowship support is crucial in attracting topnotch undergraduate and graduate students, whose accomplishments improve the community as well as the success of the School.
  • Program Support: the intellectual experience for students and faculty of SESP is the foundation for addressing the complex needs of education in an ever-changing society. Summer enrichment classes, practicums, volunteer opportunities are among the many valuable experiences in which SESP students can participate outside the classroom. Coordinated with the Institute for Policy Research, ongoing research by students and faculty continues to inform policy makers and improve the lives of children and adults.
  • Facilities Support: A solid infrastructure ensures sound achievement. Our ability to successfully address ongoing costs for equipment and facilities maintenance in Annenberg Hall and the Tarry Center for Collaborative Teaching and Learning means our undergraduates are better prepared to apply classroom theories in the field, our graduate students are better able to develop new technologies for teaching and learning, our faculty are better equipped to design innovative curricula.
