Center of Talent Development
The Center for Talent Development (CTD) is an accredited learning center and research facility serving the gifted community of the Midwest. Through the Midwest Talent Searches and other programs, CTD has assisted more than 350,000 families. Led by nationally recognized scholar Paula Olszewski-Kubilius, PhD., the center also conducts and publishes academic research on gifted students.


Psychology
The Psychology Department reflects the richness of the field of psychology as a whole. Its five main areas of research and instruction—Brain, Behavior, & Cognition, Clinical, Cognitive, Personality and Social—are among the best in the nation. Federally, privately, and internally funded research programs seek to provide a basic understanding of human thinking, as well as pathways to more effective treatment of the diseases of the mind and tools for the betterment of society as a whole.

Cognitive Science
Northwestern University offers a graduate specialization and an undergraduate major in Cognitive Science with particular strengths in higher-order cognition, language, and learning. The program offers breadth and depth of representation in cognitive science through the participation of more than100 associated faculty from psychology, computer science, linguistics, neuroscience, learning sciences, music, communication studies, management and organizations, anthropology and philosophy.


Computer Science
Computer Science Department students and faculty develop computer and network hardware and software systems to support very large distributed multimedia networked databases; models of tasks, activities and information flow to support the creation of new modes of human-computer interaction models of intelligence, both human and machine, to support autonomous computational agents (robots and softbots) and intelligent adaptive interfaces; theories of computation and cognition to support the design and analysis of complex interactive systems; algorithms and data structures to support large-scale computation and visualization.


Library
Northwestern University Library provides comprehensive resources in a variety of formats, including books, original manuscripts, musical scores and recordings, digital databases, magazines and journals, films and videos and the World Wide Web. Its combined libraries contain a collection of more than 4 million volumes, 3.7 million microforms and 37,000 current periodicals and serials—holdings that rank 10th among the nation’s private universities.
