Admission Requirements

Qualified Applicants

We welcome all qualified professionals who are interested in improving workplace effectiveness and becoming more inventive leaders. Our students come with work experience from all industry sectors, including corporate, not-for-profit, education and government.

We expect applicants to have prior experience in organizational settings and an appreciation for the complex needs of organizations, their employees, and customers or stakeholders. Prior study in business or in our core areas of learning, knowledge management or strategic change is not required for admission.

Experience

We expect all applicants to have these credentials:
  • A strong academic record from an accredited university or college, resulting in a four-year baccalaureate degree (or equivalent credentials for international students)
  • A minimum of three years’ relevant work experience. Relevant content areas include human resources, organizational effectiveness, project management, consulting, strategic work, teaching/educational administration, training and development, or process improvement

Career Goals

Our students tend to have career interests, including:
  • Leading a functional area (such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, IT, Knowledge Management) or division within an organization
  • Leading and managing enterprise-wide change/learning/knowledge initiatives
  • Developing people through coaching, training and a variety of learning methods
  • Consulting ("internally" or with a consulting firm) to advance organizational effectiveness and change initiatives
  • Running a small business, not-for-profit organization or consulting enterprise
  • Designing systems and structures to drive organizational performance
  • Leading and facilitating change within not-for-profit and educational institutions
Admission Considerations

We evaluate an applicant’s scholastic and leadership achievements, motivation, interpersonal skills, professional performance and potential. Admissions committee members will review your academic record, employment history, resume, essays, letters of recommendation, interview performance and TOEFL scores (if applicable).

For applicants who do not have a strong academic record (i.e., below 3.2 GPA on a 4.0 scale), we will also consider (and strongly recommend) GMAT or GRE scores.

Applicants must have a minimum of three years’ relevant work experience. Students in the MSLOC program come from many different sizes and types of workplaces, and they have on average 10 years of work experience.

English Proficiency Requirements for International Applicants
