New Faces
Laurie Carlin Davidson is the School's new director of development. Her experience includes serving as director of development for Chicago Shakespeare Theater and for Chicago Opera Theater. She has also worked in development at Chicago's Museum of Science and Industry and at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio.
Spyros Konstantopoulos, assistant professor of learning sciences and of human development and social policy, received his PhD in 2003 from the University of Chicago. In 2002 he received the Palmer O. Johnson Award from the American Educational Research Association and the Harold E. Mitzel Award from the Journal of Educational Research. His research interests lie in the development, modification and application of statistical methodology for social science research.Honors and Awards
P. Lindsay Chase-Lansdale has been elected a Fellow of Developmental Psychology by the American Psychological Association.
Mark Hoffman, assistant dean of student affairs, received the 2002-2003 Outstanding Contribution by an Associate award from the Division of Student Affairs for establishing the Northwestern Undergraduate Academic Support Network (NUASN)
Andrew Ortony has been awarded a Fulbright Senior Specialists grant to support research, teaching and consulting activities at the University of Haifa in Israel.
James E. Rosenbaum has been honored by the Willard Waller Award committee for his book Beyond College for All. The American Sociology Association section on the sociology of education's Waller Award rotates among prizes for the best article in the sociology of education, for the best book and for lifetime career achievement. This means that Beyond College for All was selected in competition with other books published over a three-year period. Rosenbaum has also been elected president of the section on the sociology of education.
James P. Spillane was a visiting scholar at the National College of School Leadership in England in June.
