SESP Alums Named Northwestern Head Coaches

Patrick Fitzgerald (BS97) is starting his first season as Northwestern University's 29th head football coach. A former assistant coach of the Wildcats and All-American linebacker, Fitzgerald, 31, is the youngest head coach in Division I football. He was named July 7 after the sudden death of former head coach Randy Walker.

Stephanie Erickson (BS98), Northwestern's all-time leading scorer in women's soccer, was named head coach of the women's soccer program. Erickson served as head coach at Harvard University in 2005 and previously had been an assistant coach at Northwestern, Stanford, Harvard and University of California.

In Memoriam
Adam Roux (BS01), 27, who had worked for Goldman Sachs and Merrill Lynch in New York and was enrolled in a doctoral program in philosophy at San Diego State University, died suddenly on July 15. Intelligent and creative, he was admired as a model student and a natural leader, according to professor James Spillane. Jean Egmon, former director of the Learning and Organizational Change program that Roux completed, says, "He looked out for many who followed after him to New York. … He found his path and way in life, and helped so many of us find or stay on our path."
