Mary and Jim Nelson Start Fellowship

The founding supporters of the Goodwillie Environmental School in Grand Rapids, they have extended their support to SESP's reform efforts in environmental science education. The Kinship Environmental Education Fellowship will support a graduate student in the Learning Sciences program who is studying environmental education.
Wilkinsons Support Work in Education
When Frances Wilkinson (BS51) was growing up, her family ran the North Shore School, a preK–8 private school in Chicago, and her interest in education took root. Later she became a teacher and principal at the school. Recently she and her husband, David, a 1950 graduate of Northwestern, made a gift in support of the School of Education and Social Policy and specifically the work of professor P. Lindsay Chase-Lansdale related to early childhood education.
