Students at Northwestern voted to name three School of Education and Social Policy faculty and staff members to the "Faculty Honor Roll." Former assistant dean Mark Hoffman was recognized as an outstanding administrator, and David Renz and Nancy Remley were recognized as excellent faculty members.David Renz (left) teaches in the Master of Science in Education and Teacher Education programs, and Nancy Remley teaches in the undergraduate Human Development and Psychological Services program. Hoffman, Remley and Renz were among the 40 Northwestern faculty members and administrators honored at a banquet on May 23.
The honor roll was selected as the result of student voting at the hereandnow.com web site. "This is quite an honor, as the students of Northwestern selected these professors themselves," says Christiana Schmitz of the Academic Committee of Associated Student Government. She notes that these educators "have made a very big and positive impact on the students of Northwestern."
Hoffman, who continues to serve as an advisor to undergraduate social policy majors at SESP, says he appreciates the goals and motivation of his SESP advisees. "Working with Social Policy undergraduates is one of the best aspects of my job as an academic advisor," says Hoffman. "I appreciate our students' enthusiasm, desire to make the world a better place and passion for their education. When this is combined with SESP's advising model with manageable advising loads and its focus on the student as a learner, advising is both enjoyable and rewarding."
