Enjoy the May 13 Noontime Concert in Annenberg Hall

Experience opera with your lunch at noon on May 13 when a special concert takes place in Annenberg Hall featuring Bienen School of Music students. Slated for Wednesday's program is "A Night at the Opera — at Noon on the Northwestern Campus." Bring your lunch and experience a wonderful concert of opera masterworks.

The May 13 concert will feature talented voice majors from the Bienen School singing scenes from four operas. Selections include a preview of the upcoming performance of the Pulitzer Prize-winning opera The Consul by Gian Carlo Menotti, which will be presented at 7:30 p.m. on May 21 and 23 at Cahn Auditorium.

Faculty from the Bienen School of Music will provide commentary and context for this noontime concert. The Noontime Concert Series is co-sponsored by Bienen School of Music and the School of Education and Social Policy.

"The Annenberg Noontime Concert Series is designed to provide faculty, staff and students who reside on 'north campus' with the opportunity to experience excellent music performances in a nearby venue, with great acoustics, an excellent piano and an environment for an intimate and up-close listening experience," says Bernard Dobroski, a professor in the School of Music. "The programs for the series are drawn from a potpourri of classical solo and chamber music repertoires played by talented undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the Bienen School of Music."

SESP professor Sophie Haroutunian-Gordon, one of the organizers of the concert series, says, "We joyfully welcome back the Noontime Concert Series. A tradition that was established in 1996, the series has resumed after a three-year hiatus. … Come and enjoy great music and great performances in Annenberg Hall."
