NU Names Two SESP Alums to Athletic Hall of Fame

2010 Hall of Fame Inductees

Northwestern University inducted SESP alumni Grady Hall (BS86) and Heather Hoffman Jenkins (BS97) into its Athletic Hall of Fame on January 22. Former student-athletes Damien Anderson, Luke Donald and Amy Balcerzak Field also became Hall of Famers in 2010.

Hall is a former Wildcat pitcher who closed his collegiate career with a 30-9 record and a 2.77 ERA. His Big Ten-best 94 strikeouts led to first-team All-Big Ten honors and an All-America citation, and he was the runner-up for Big Ten Player of the Year in 1986. Drafted by the Chicago White Sox, he became the first Major League Baseball first-round draft pick in Northwestern's history.

Jenkins was Northwestern's first woman golfer to be selected All-Big Ten, earning the honor her sophomore and junior seasons. She also was selected as an individual alternate for the NCAA Championships in 1995 and 1996. The Wildcats' top finisher at the Big Ten Championships three years in a row and an Academic All-Big Ten selection in 1996, she won three tournaments during her college career and finished in the top 10 of three Big Ten Championships. Her 79.6 career scoring average ranks 12th on Northwestern's all-time list.

The Athletic Hall of Fame was inaugurated in 1984 to honor former athletes, coaches and administrators who have helped establish a proud tradition in intercollegiate competition at Northwestern. Athletes must have graduated five years prior to induction.
