
From 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on October 16, VanTassel-Baska, who is an expert in differentiation practices and strategies, will engage participants in the design elements of curriculum, including outcomes, activities and assessment. Her session will also explore strategies for differentiating curriculum for gifted learners.
Educators of children from kindergarten through high school are invited to attend. The cost is $100, and the deadline for registration is October 1. Information on the registration process is available at www.ctd.northwestern.edu/outreach/#educators.
Specifically, this workshop will focus on the important features of differentiation and how to use them to improve and remodel curriculum for our best learners. Participants will work through features of differentiation, using tested examples. They will also critique an example of differentiation widely disseminated as appropriate for gifted students. Finally the workshop will share a new model for teaching narrative writing and conclude with tips for implementing differentiation effectively in the classroom.
Each fall, the Center for Talent Development hosts a conference for educators, informing them of best practices in gifted education and inspiring them to strive toward mastery of their craft and better instruction and support for gifted students.
