A dedication for the Baldwin Learning Studio will be held at 3:30 p.m. on November 19, and Baldwin will be present for the ceremony. Stevens, a learning sciences professor, along with alumni Kyle Petty and Jennifer Khan (BS10) and senior Meixi Ng, will demonstrate the new features of the Baldwin Learning Studio. They will show how SESP faculty and students are re-envisioning how new technologies might be used more effectively to improve the processes of teaching, learning, and research.
To extend avenues for learning and collaboration, the studio features such innovative technology as a 20-foot video wall and whiteboards equipped with cameras to save and send notes. With Baldwin’s gift of $500,000, the learning studio was revamped within the Tarry Center, where scientific study focuses on teaching and learning. The new Baldwin Learning Studio is equipped with state of the art technology, featuring a 20-foot high-resolution video wall, which will allow integral use of live media-rich learning materials and foster more interactive involvement between students and teachers.
“I’m delighted to support the North Learning Studio renovation at SESP,” says Baldwin, who will be present at the dedication. “I am happy that SESP students and faculty will have access to the very latest technology in this space for classes, lectures and other activities.” Baldwin taught history and social science for 34 years before her retirement, and has continued to serve as a mentor and supervisor for many young teachers.
All students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to the dedication. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 847/467-2073 or e-mailing l-salus@northwestern.edu.
