School of Education and Social Policy speakers will offer intriguing perspectives for an audience of students and alumni at A Day with Northwestern on April 26. SESP associate professor Diane Schanzenbach will discuss “Hunger: Causes, Consequences and Policy Solutions.” In addition, SESP alumnus Neal Sales-Griffin (BS09), co-founder of Starter League computer school, will offer his viewpoint on entrepreneurship.

A Day with Northwestern, a seminar day for alumni, students and the general public, will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Norris University Center. The daylong event features talks by prominent Northwestern faculty and alumni on topics ranging from medicine to music, economics, law, marketing, art and more.

The long-term impact of childhood hunger on health and economic well-being is well known. During Schanzenbach’s talk at 10:15 a.m., she will provide insights about causes and potential solutions for the growing problem of inadequate access to food in the United States and developing countries.

Also at 10:15 a.m., Sales-Griffin will participate in an alumni panel called "CATrepreneurs: A Young Alumni Entrepreneurship Panel.” Sales-Griffin will share his experiences and expertise. Sales-Griffin is a graduate of SESP’s learning and organizational change program.

A Day with Northwestern, which is presented through the Northwestern Alumni Association, features talks by prominent professors and alumni. Participants in the annual seminar day can choose lectures on a range of topics. In addition to the keynote address by Geoffrey Baer, the award-winning public television writer, producer and program host, speakers include legal analyst Rikki Klieman, economist Brian Wesbury, law professor Andrew Koppelman and sports commentator Dave Revsine.

The registration deadline is April 20. Students may attend the daylong seminar event for $10. Tickets for alumni are $65 or $40 for young alumni. Registration for A Day with Northwestern is available online.
