Senior Alexandria Bobbitt Receives Campus Life Award

Alexandria BobbittAlexandria Bobbitt’s enthusiastic advocacy and engagement on campus won the SESP senior a Campus Life Award for fall 2015. Bobbitt was one of six students recognized for significantly contributing to the improvement of the quality of student life at Northwestern University.

Each quarter the Office of Student Engagement presents Campus Life Awards to recognize students who have improved the Northwestern community through program development, bridging cultural differences or engaging students in a more inclusive campus community.

Bobbitt, a senior majoring in human development and psychological services, was honored for her involvement with the Black House Listening Sessions and for being an advocate of social justice and activism on campus. She was also recognized as president of House on the Rock and a member of the Northwestern Community Ensemble.

“Alexandria has been a passionate and courageous voice as she engages with diverse groups of students and community members across campus. Alexandria’s energy and enthusiasm in everything she does has been a strong influence on many whom she meets," notes the Office of Student Engagement.

In the fall, Bobbitt was actively involved in a series of Listening Sessions that gathered input and perspectives from students, faculty, staff and alumni about the use of the Black House, after a proposal for Campus Inclusion and Community to move two of its offices into the campus facility. House on the Rock, which is committed to serving Black students, is one of five strategic ministries under the InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Northwestern. Northwestern Community Ensemble is Northwestern's premier gospel choir, which performs spiritual, gospel, and anthem music from the black Christian tradition.
