MPES 2 Cohort 1
Megan Mekinda earned her PhD in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University in June 2015. She specializes in the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs to promote positive development and wellbeing. Her dissertation examined the potential for after-school programs to serve as meaningful contexts for work readiness training, a critical component of postsecondary success. The research presents in-depth, qualitative evaluation of After School Matters (ASM) in Chicago, among the largest and most well-known after-school programs for high school youth in the country. Dr. Mekinda holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Swarthmore College and a master’s degree in Human Development and Social Policy from Northwestern University.
