SESP 351 Interfaith Leadership
SESP 351, Interfaith Leadership
Eboo Patel, Interfaith Youth Corp, and Paul Arnston
The second class will present the framework for building practical
interfaith service projects. Students will examine various theories and
narratives of the role of religion in a globalized America and look at
practical paths for interaction across religious difference, including
in-depth case studies of people of faith who have transformed their
communities through interfaith cooperation. This course highlights theory
and methods for leadership in a religiously diverse world, with an emphasis
on practical skills translatable to multiple vocational contexts, and a
focus on the role of young people in building religious pluralism. In
addition to class-based discussion and lectures, the course includes
skills-based training from IFYC’s religiously diverse training staff and
local activists and leaders as guest lecturers.
