USNC Mission Statement

The mission of the Urban/Suburban Northwestern Consortium is to foster collaborative relationships among urban and suburban educators to create a professional community that attracts, educates and supports pre-service and experienced teachers and administrators. Recognizing the importance of the well being of all schools, we strive to develop leadership that will break through institutional isolation and social, racial, and economic barriers for the purpose of bringing together schools in the Chicago metropolitan community. To broaden our understanding of teaching and learning, we seek the diversity of perspectives, experiences and resources that we bring to one another. In creating a consortium of schools, we hope to increase in our community a sense of professional responsibility and accomplishment that will sustain all members and serve as a model of collaboration for other schools and universities.
