On June 19, 2015, MSHE students, faculty, and staff participated in the 2015 Northwestern University university-wide commencement and School of Education and Social Policy convocation ceremony.
One highlight for the MSHE program was the annual graduation luncheon for graduates and their guests. Other highlights were Xiao Lucas Chen serving as the MSHE graduation marshal and MSHE graduate Nicholas C. Royal being awarded the highly competitive SESP Alumni Leadership Award at the SESP convocation.
In her letter of recommendation for Nick, Danielle Lynne Burke, Residence Director at Northwestern University, wrote, “The two tenets of leadership that I most look for in people are integrity and having a healthy disregard for the impossible. ... Nick approaches each person and conversation with care and a genuine willingness to learn more from and engage with others. ... His combination of intelligence, passion, commitment, creativity and compassionate character make him an excellent candidate for this award.”
Nick will be starting a full time position this summer with the University of Denver as a Residence Director of Housing and Residential Education. Lucas will be starting a newly created, full-time position at The Ohio State University as the Residential International Student Program Coordinator.
We wish all of our MSHE graduates well as they go on to pursue careers in higher education and remain connected to the program as alumni.
