How to Cope With a State Budget Crisis

Heather HaberaeckerLearn how to prepare for -- and survive -- a state budget crisis in an upcoming webinar hosted by Northwestern University’s Higher Education Administration and Policy program.

The free webinar for administrators, held noon to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 31, features Heather Haberaecker, a higher education and policy consultant who teaches in the Higher Education Administration and Policy Program at Northwestern’s School of Education and Social Policy.

The webinar content is not limited to Illinois residents and will include a Q & A session.

“I am a firm believer in planning,” Haberaecker said. “No one could have anticipated the severity of the budget crisis Illinois public universities are currently experiencing. This webinar will provide tools and tips that institutions can take in advance to help minimize the effects of a state budget crisis.”

For those working in the field, the tools presented at the webinar can help ensure that a student’s education is not disrupted by a budget crisis, Haberaecker said.

In addition to consulting and teaching for Northwestern, Haberaecker has served as executive assistant vice president for business and finance and chief business officer at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Before that, she was senior associate dean for finance, chief financial officer at Northwestern’s Feinberg School of Medicine and vice president for finance and administration at Clarion University.
