Biography

Martha Mulligan is a mathematics teacher and department chair at Northside College Preparatory High School in Chicago. She has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2004 and was National Evaluator Certified in 2014. As a Framework Specialist in Chicago Public Schools, she works with a district-wide cohort of teachers to advance teaching and learning through the creation and dissemination of effective teaching strategies aligned to the CPS Framework for Teaching. 

In 2007, Mulligan was a DRIVE award winner, chosen as one of 26 outstanding teachers out of 26,000 Chicago Public Schools teachers. During the 2009-10 academic year, she was the Teacher-in-Residence at Northwestern University's School of Education and Social Policy. During her career at Northside Prep, she has taught all four levels of an integrated, standards-based mathematics curriculum, mentored pre-service teachers, taught elective classes, led a service learning trip, awarded grants and sponsored extracurricular activities. Prior to teaching at Northside Prep, Mulligan was on the faculty at Perspectives Charter School and Harper High School.
