Exec Ed Coaching Certificate Earns Distinction
Northwestern University’s leadership coaching certificate for experienced professionals has been recognized by the non-profit Center for Credentialing & Education (CCE).
The distinction means that students who complete the Level 1 coaching certificate with Northwestern’s Executive Learning and Organizational Change program can also apply to receive their CCE-Approved Board Certified Coach (BCC) credential.
Given the wide variety of standards for coaching credentials, the Board Certified Coach designation by the Center for Credentialing & Education–on top of Northwestern University’s rigor and professionalism–is an additional way for clients to vet executive, organizational or leadership coaches.
Some online certifications offered by for-profit groups, for example, merely require watching six to ten hours of videos. Northwestern’s Executive Learning and Organizational Change (ELOC) courses, by contrast, are interactive, offer high-quality feedback from expert coaches and are based on solid academic grounding. The four-course program can be completed in as little as six months, and the courses are modular, allowing participants to start with any of the first three courses and self-pace.
“The CCE certification fits the university coach education context in a novel and strategic way in that it considers previous professional training and academic degrees in related fields,” said Michelle Albaugh, associate director of coaching for the Executive Learning and Organizational Change program.
Executive Learning and Organizational Change courses are designed for busy professionals with significant work experience who have limited time for formal learning and want to build their skills in flexible and efficient ways.
Northwestern ELOC faculty and administrators are experts in a range of interdisciplinary fields, including human development, organizational change and design, diversity-equity-inclusion, human capital strategy, leadership development, learning, and coaching.
The non-profit Center for Credentialing & Education provides practitioners and organizations with assessments, business support services, and credentialing. Created in 1995 as an affiliate of the National Board for Certified Counselors, CCE credentials nearly 25,000 practitioners globally in a variety of fields.
Northwestern’s Executive Learning and Organizational Change program is part of the School of Education and Social Policy at Northwestern University, which is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission, one of six regional accreditors in the U.S. that provide institutional accreditation for higher education.
