Biography

Peggy Burke is currently the Associate Vice President of Student Development at DePaul University in which she is responsible for developing out-of-classroom learning opportunities for students. She oversees the departments of Residential Education, Student Involvement and New Student and Family Engagement and also serves on the cabinet of the Vice President of Student Affairs. She has worked at DePaul University since 1984 holding previous positions of Director of Special Services, Acting Director of Campus Ministry, and Director of Student Life. She holds a bachelor’s degree in secondary education and a master’s degree in history from DePaul University and earned her doctorate in higher education administration from Loyola University Chicago in 2002. She holds professional interests in the areas of college student development, leadership development, women’s development, organizational development and change management. She has been an adjunct faculty member at Loyola University Chicago, DePaul University and Benedictine University. Active in NASPA Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education, she has served as the co-chair of the national NASPA Mid-Level Administrators Conference, Region IV-East regional director, Awards Chair, WISA Conference Co-Chair and Leadership Programs Knowledge Community Chair; in 2011, she received the Outstanding Contribution to NASPA IV-East Award; and in 2016 was named a “Pillar of the Profession by the NASPA Foundation Board.
