Practicums

At the School of Education and Social Policy, we go beyond classroom learning ...

Junior Year Practicum
All SESP students spend a quarter completing a practicum requirement by participating in real-world internships, summer field studies, hands-on research, or community service.
Learning and Organizational Change Summer Field Studies
The summer Field Studies Program of the School of Education and Social Policy is a nine-week internship offering open to all Northwestern undergraduates. Located in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., or Chicago, the Field Studies program provides an excellent learning opportunity for students to develop leadership by holding a position with a political, public interest, research or educational organization.
advanced teaching Teaching Practicums
Secondary Teaching students complete three experiences, starting sophomore year with work with a community organization. During senior year students assist a cooperating teacher for 100 hours and then spend one quarter doing full-time internship work as a student teacher.
