San Francisco program:

Dan A. Lewis, a professor of human development and social policy, directs the Field Studies Program. He is a nationally recognized scholar who has been honored by Northwestern’s Associated Student Government and the Northwestern Alumni Association and has received the Dean’s Award for Innovative Teaching. Lewis teaches the seminar in San Francisco and assists with practicum placement.
Chicago program:

Bruce Nelson and Nancy Remley are the Chicago instructors.
Bruce Nelson is coordinator of the Field Studies Program and director of the Practicum Program for SESP, assisting students in developing and securing their field placements. He also directs Northwestern's Certificate in Service Learning Program.

Nancy Remley, an adjunct faculty member at SESP, teaches the human development and psychological services practicum seminar. She is a clinical psychologist with practices in Chicago and Evanston.
Washington, D.C., program:

Ellen Shearer, assistant dean, William F. Thomas Professor, and co-director of the Medill School of Journalism newspaper department, teaches the seminar for the Washington, D.C., program. Shearer is a board member of the Garrett-Medill Center for Religion and the News Media, contributing writer for the American Society of Newspaper Editors’ Local News Handbook, and former editor of New York’s Newsday. As a full-time resident of Washington, she is an invaluable resource to students.
