Opportunities

From research to mentoring, honors to community involvement, the School of Education and Social Policy offers its undergraduate students a wide range of unique opportunities, including:

employment opportunities at SESP Employment opportunities
These come in myriad forms for our students, ranging from work-study jobs and internships for students to University resources and networks for employment after graduation. Visit our Employment page for more information.
honors opportunities at SESP Honors Opportunities
School of Education and Social Policy (SESP) students have two opportunities for graduating with honors. The first option, school honors, is based on completion of a Senior Honors Thesis. The second option, University honors, is based on cumulative GPA at the time of graduation. Students who graduate with either honor will be noted at the school's convocation (graduation), and a notation will appear on the student's transcript. Visit our Honors Opportunities page for more information.
Peer advising Peer Advising
Peer advisors provide academic and personal guidance to incoming first-year and transfer students. Each spring quarter, a competitive selection process is held to identify eight students who will work closely with the assistant dean and Student Affairs staff to orient our new students. Over the summer, this cadré of student leaders contacts our incoming first-year and transfer students to prepare them for arrival on campus. During Northwestern's Wildcat Welcome, each peer advisor mentors a small group of new students and provides guidance during the week. This relationship extends throughout the students' first year, especially the fall term. Visit our Peer Advising page for more information.
Promote 360 Promote 360
Promote 360: A Cycle of Minority Empowerment and Support is a student organization that was created within the School of Education and Social Policy by a group of student leaders in 2006. The organization's mission is to promote, support and sponsor efforts to enhance the social, academic and professional well-being of minority and underrepresented students in the School of Education and Social Policy. All are welcome to join!

The School of Education and Social Policy (SESP) values opportunities for undergraduates to learn from and work closely with faculty, including a Research Apprenticeship program, Independent Study opportunities, Northwestern research opportunities and self-funded research. study abroad at SESP Summer Field Studies
The summer Field Studies Program of the School of Education and Social Policy is a nine-week internship program open to all Northwestern undergraduates. Located in San Francisco, Washington, D.C., or Chicago, the Field Studies program provides an excellent learning opportunity for students to develop leadership by holding a position with a political, public interest, research or educational organization.
