Promote 360: A Cycle of Minority Empowerment and Support is a student organization that was created within the School of Education and Social Policy by a group of student leaders in 2006.
The organization's mission is to promote, support and sponsor efforts to enhance the social, academic and professional well-being of minority and underrepresented students in the School of Education and Social Policy. All are welcome to join!
The group plans programs related to career exploration, academic skill building and social support for SESP students, along with mentoring for Chicago high school students. |

Promote 360 also has plans to develop long-term big brother/big sister mentorships, as well as connections with Northwestern alumni, faculty members and community leaders. Collaborating with professors of color, both inside and outside of the School of Education, is imperative to the organization's vision and goals.
Current projects include tutoring with students in Chicago high schools, as well as panel discussions with faculty members and an ice cream social at the beginning of the school year to welcome the SESP community. The photos at left were taken at the fall 2007 ice cream social. Shown talking to students are (from top) president Tabitha Bentley, advocacy chair Aaron Beswick, treasurer Corey Winchester and vice president Janet Rocha. |
