Graduates of the program have assumed teaching and research positions in such colleges and universities as Cornell, Brown, University of Pennsylvania, Duke, Johns Hopkins, University of Chicago and University of Wisconsin. HDSP graduates are especially well trained to become professors in other interdisciplinary programs in such areas as Human Development, Human Ecology and Family Studies. In addition, they bring an interdisciplinary perspective to such traditional academic departments as Psychology and Sociology or to Schools of Public Policy or Education.

Policy Settings
Many graduates assume a professional position in government or governmental agencies or at independent research organizations, where they are research directors or policy analysts. Examples include the General Accounting Office, Rand Institute, Urban Institute, Mathematica and Manpower Demonstration Research Corporation. Others work as legislative assistants for committees and members of the U.S. Senate or House of Representatives.
