Foram Sheth (MS16) co-founded Ama La Vida, a Chicago-based career, leadership, life, and health coaching company, in 2016 while she was completing her MS in Learning and Organizational Change degree at Northwestern. Through her professional roles as chief coaching officer of Ama La Vida and adjunct faculty at Northwestern as well as the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Foram envisions making coaching accessible to people of all ages and socioeconomic statuses.

“As I became more informed about the coaching world, I realized high quality leadership coaching is typically reserved for the top leadership team. But what about new and mid-level managers who need personalized support to cultivate high performing teams? How do we scale coaching and break down the barriers that traditionally make coaching only reserved for the senior leadership team?” Foram set out to answer these questions in working with her co-founder and colleagues to build Ama La Vida.

Next month, Foram is looking forward to continue working towards her vision in a new way by empowering TEDxWilmette event attendees to take control of their life and career goals. On April 9, 2022, Foram will engage the live TEDxWilmette audience as she speaks on how to Take Off Your Blinders and Forge Your Path. She will discuss how to do this by talking about the power and potency of coaching for each of us. She will also share her own story and reflect on how her work in Northwestern’s MSLOC and Organizational and Leadership Coaching Certificate (OLCC) influenced her vision and work.

Diane Knoepke (MS16), director of program engagement and outreach for MSLOC shared, “I have had the pleasure of collaborating with Foram since she was a student in our MSLOC and OLCC programs. She is a propulsive force within the coaching community of practice in and beyond Chicago. Foram rejects conventional wisdom—which can also be inaccurate and inequitable—about who is ‘right’ for coaching.”

This year will mark the third annual TEDxWilmette event “featuring enterprising speakers who are driving leaders for creating positive change in ourselves and in our community.” While tickets for the TEDxWilmette live event are sold out, TEDxWilmette and Ama La Vida will share the video recording post-event so additional viewers can learn from Foram’s talk.
