Graduate Assistant Spotlight: Claire Sampson

October 19, 2021
Claire Sampson

Hi everyone! I'm Claire Sampson (she/her). I am studying to be a Secondary Education teacher, and am also one of the new Graduate Assistants in the MSEd program. Before starting the program in Fall 2021, I majored in Neuroscience and Psychology at the University of Chicago. After graduation, I stayed in Chicago and worked in strategy consulting at L.E.K. Consulting. I'm originally from the East Coast, but the friendliness of the Midwest has certainly drawn me in!

I have always wanted to be a teacher and worked as a teacher's assistant in classrooms during high school, and in CPS while in college. I love working with students and getting to witness and foster their creativity and curiosity. My former teachers are some of my strongest role models – I have them to thank for imparting a love of learning, and for pushing me to think critically. I hope to do the same for my future students, and to be an educator who teaches my subject just as much as I support students' development into thinkers, questioners, and active and compassionate members of their communities. I am eager to learn alongside them.

When I'm not studying, I enjoy nerding out about architecture, biking on the lakefront, and am also on a mission to find the best bagels in the Chicagoland area. I can't wait to meet everyone in the MSEd program, so please reach out!
