Dhruvi Soni

Hello everyone! I am a pre-service teacher and one of the new graduate assistants in the MSEd Program. I am concentrating on secondary economics and hope to teach high school economics, psychology, and history. Before joining the program, I was studying at DePaul University, where I received a bachelor’s in economics and a minor in psychology.

I began to grow interested in teaching in high school. Seeing my economics teacher teach with great passion and energy inspired me to teach as well. While studying at DePaul, I volunteered with Open Books and WITs. As a volunteer, I worked with elementary and middle school students to improve their reading comprehension and literacy. The students taught me that to teach is to love, a philosophy I will implement in my own classroom.

In my free time, I enjoy doing DIY projects, going on walks, and exploring new places. I love exploring new neighborhoods in Chicago. The 606, Riverwalk, and Lakeshore Drive are some of my favorite places to go on walks. I have enjoyed getting to know everyone in the program and look forward to meeting new people!
