Graduate Assistant Spotlight: Emily Salzman

December 5, 2019
Emily Salzman

Hello! I'm Emily Salzman, a preservice Secondary Math teacher and a new Graduate Assistant in the MSEd house. I started the program in the Fall of 2019, and prior to that, I completed my bachelor’s degree in Spanish and Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis in 2018. After graduating, I decided to pursue teaching because I love connecting with young people, helping kids find their passions and realize their potential, and I hope to encourage students to develop a lasting love of learning.

Growing up in downtown Chicago, I’ve been able to spend some time in Evanston prior to starting the MSEd program, but since being here full-time, I’ve discovered that I really love the area and am excited to continue to spend more time here. I enjoy studying and working in coffee shops, and I’ve found some cozy spots in Evanston to escape the cold (Coffeelab, Cupitol Coffee, Colectivo, and Philz are my favorites so far). Other hobbies of mine include cooking and baking, playing volleyball, going to Chicago sports games, and exploring new parts of the city. I have loved getting to know all of the people I’ve met so far in the MSEd program and want to continue to get to know more, so please stop by the MSEd house to say hello!
