Graduate Assistant Spotlight: Irene Choi
Hello everyone!
I'm excited to introduce myself as a new Graduate Assistant here with the MSEd program. Born in Seoul, South Korea, I moved to Vancouver, Canada, during my middle school years. This is my first academic experience in the States, and I couldn't be more thrilled!>
During my undergraduate years, I ventured into various fields to discover what truly resonated with me. I undertook internships in diverse sectors and immersed myself in many experiences. Yet, a recurring theme emerged: a deep-rooted joy in being around children. Even during internships at multiple companies, I consistently gravitated towards roles and opportunities where I could interact with children.
I've chosen to specialize in elementary education because I'm driven by the idea of being that positive influence early on in someone's life. By nurturing their passions, addressing their queries, and cultivating an environment of mutual respect and growth, I believed we can pave the way for a brighter future. Also, they see the world in a million colors while most of us see it in just a few. Their questions, their wonder, their genuine curiosity about everything-from why the sky is blue to how a pencil is made- it is simply refreshing!>
