MSHE Community Members Advocate for Equity and Social Justice

Recent Higher Education Administration & Policy graduate Joanne Kang (MS16) and current student Phong Luu (MS17) teamed up recently to present “Silenced but Not Forgotten: Relating AAPI History to the Student Experience” at the 30th Annual National Conference on Race and Ethnicity in American Higher Education (NCORE) in Fort Worth, Texas.

MSHE Preview Days 2017

Each year, Northwestern University’s Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration and Policy program (MSHE) hosts a special on-campus event—Preview Days—for newly admitted students who have committed through the early admission process.  The event offers students a unique chance to secure internships, meet with program faculty, staff, and alumni, and socialize with current students and potential future classmates.

Welcoming the New MSHE Class!

Although the MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy (MSHE) program enrolls new students each quarter, the majority of full-time students begin each summer and fall quarter. With fall quarter 2016 underway, we wanted to profile the newest class of MSHE students.

Running for Work-Life Balance

Alongside 40,400 runners, five MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy (MSHE) students, alumni, and staff participated in the 39th annual Bank of America Chicago Marathon. The Chicago Marathon is one of the six World Marathon Majors alongside Berlin, Boston, London, New York, and Tokyo. The course showcases 20 of Chicago’s diverse neighborhoods, and an estimated 1.7 million spectators cheered on runners for this year’s race.

MSHE Career-Launcher Graduates Go Nationwide

Several recent graduates from the MSHE Class of 2016 accepted full-time positions across the country. In this article, we feature some of our Career Launcher graduates -- those who began the program immediately or shortly after graduating from their undergraduate institutions  -- many of whom completed the program in one year.

Northwestern University’s MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy program Director and Assistant Director attended the 2015 annual Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) conference.  ASHE is one of the major national conferences for research on higher education and was held in Denver, Colorado, from November 4 to 7.

90 Percent Job Placement Within 90 Days of Graduation

The MS in Higher Education Administration and Policy program (MSHE) is proud of the track record of placing 90 percent of graduates in jobs within 90 days of graduation. One example of this success is graduate Anne Pugh.

MSHE Student to Present Master's Project at National Conference

I became interested in my master’s project topic from the perspective of game-based learning initiatives broadly. Having gotten my toes wet developing an online tutor training using basic game-based learning strategies for interactivity as part of my AmeriCorps VISTA project at Riverland Community College the year before, I was interested in exploring a topic related to innovative, technology-enhanced learning strategies.

MSHE Master's Project Presentations: Connecting Theory to Practice

A hallmark of the MSHE program is the culminating master’s project that each student in the program completes. Open to the public, events showcasing the most recently completed projects were held on three separate evenings (May 21, May 28, and June 4) in Annenberg Hall on Northwestern's Evanston campus.

Annual Higher Ed Reception

The 11th Annual Higher Ed Reception (fourth annual as a stand-alone program) was hosted on Wednesday, May 13, 2015, in Annenberg Hall of Northwestern University’s main Evanston campus. Invitees included current MSHE students, staff, faculty, alumni, and the many friends of the program.
