MS Learning and Organizational Change People on the Move - March 2015

Congratulations to Master of Science in Learning and Organizational Change leaders who are on the move.

MSLOC students, faculty and alumni are change leaders who work in diverse organizational settings and roles. They advance in their careers by leveraging the strong MSLOC network, MSLOC career services and the leadership and strategic thinking skills developed during their time in the program. Many of our students don't wait for graduation to move into new roles -- after just a few classes they are often recognized within their organizations as transformational change agents and strategic partners with a unique point of view.

Over the past three years, 55% of MSLOC part-time students who are working full-time receive promotions while they are students in the program. 92% of full-time students pursuing human capital consulting jobs graduate with a job.


Leslie Girsch (MSLOC student) works for Hyatt Hotels Corporation and oversees a team of auditors responsible for the internal assessment of the organization's control environment at both the corporate and property level. She uses concepts from MSLOC to design innovative approaches to auditing, to manage teams who are located around the world and to be an agent for change in the organization. Leslie was promoted to Director of Internal Audit while on an eight-month assignment based out of the Asia-Pacific regional office in Hong Kong. Leslie began the MSLOC program as a local, part-time student; the Alternative Schedule format option allowed Leslie to continue to continue pursuing her degree by completing three courses while based overseas.

cathy_liebermanCathy Lieberman (MSLOC Coaching Certificate 2014) recently joined Simitri Group International, a global organization that delivers high quality training, coaching and consulting across twenty-seven countries, as a senior consultant. In her new role, Cathy facilitates workshops to Fortune 500 companies on topics including leadership, management, communications skills and personal effectiveness. She also serves as an Executive Coach.

In addition to joining Simitri, Cathy has leveraged her MSLOC Coaching Certificate to focus on developing her independent practice on facilitation, coaching and change management as well as increasing the value she adds to her role as the Director for the Chicago Chapter of the COO Forum. In particular, she attributes the MSLOC program for developing her ability to ask more powerful questions and develop stronger relationships with her clients.

giulia_sergiGiulia Sergi (MSLOC student) joined the management consulting company, HealthScape Advisors in August 2014 as a Business Analyst. In her role, Giulia drives cultural changes by improving behavior patterns within the software development team, specifically through training and implementation of Agile Software Development Methodology. She divides her time and energy on guiding members of the organization through this methodology and ensuring that the software product creates a valuable and engaging end user experience.

The MSLOC program has provided Giulia with the skills and knowledge to design and lead change initiatives within the organization by conducting internal team processes such as coaching others in technology applications, maintaining communications and facilitating shared learning across the organization. Prior to starting this new job, Giulia worked in various roles at Bank of America, most recently as a Change Standards and Planning Consultant.

Katie Lacy (MSLOC student) recently started working as an external consultant at ThinkWise Consulting, a talent and leadership development company that focuses on the people side of growth. In her new role, Katie will help inspire and ignite individuals, teams, and organizations develop and grow through designed workshops that address the client's specific cultural challenges. As a part time student, Katie enjoys learning concepts in class and applying them at work the next day. MSLOC has given her the tools and frameworks to collaborate and think more critically. Prior to working for ThinkWise Consulting, Katie was a Learning and Performance Consultant at Chase Bank and was in charge of the continual training and development of the employees in 96 branches.
