Senior Byrdy Galernik was one of four women's basketball players to earn Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Eight school of Education and Social Policy scholar athletes, including four from the women’s Big Ten champion basketball team, earned Academic All-Big Ten honors.

Overall, Northwestern matched a school-record with 60 student-athletes from five winter sports earning the designation. It’s only the third time since the inception of the Winter Academic All-Big Ten award that Northwestern tallied over 50 honorees.

An athlete needs a cumulate GPA of 3.0 or better and must be at least in their second year to earn Academic All-Big Ten distinction.  In addition to winning the 2019-20 Big Ten title, Northwestern women's basketball tied for a league-high with 10 recipients. All five of Northwestern's starters earned the recognition.

In the fall, a league-best 127 Wildcats received the distinction, bringing the 2019-20 academic year total to 187. Northwestern is on pace to have over 200 student-athletes earn Academic All-Big Ten honors for the 10th consecutive year.
